CRANBOURNE trainer Greg Eurell is excited by the potential shown by Great Dame after the talented filly won the $70,000 AC Goulding Airconditioning Handicap at Sandown on Saturday.

The three year old broke her maiden at Stony Creek just over a fortnight ago but the step-up in class did not worry the daughter of Danerich.

The eight-length winner proved far too strong over the 1300-metre journey, with Eurell surprised by the ease of the victory.

"It was nice to see her do what she did in the maiden, but certainly the class wasn't the same as it was here today, so we came in a little bit wary of what her chances were," the Cox Plate-winning trainer said.

"It certainly was the test today. She's taken a little bit of time to develop and get there, but thankfully everybody is pretty patient in this filly, so that gives us a good opportunity to try and plan something."

Great Dame, well-supported to start $4.60 favourite, beat Segue and completed a winning double for Eurell and jockey Chris Symons, who won the first race - the City of Opportunity Handicap (1400m) - with Go Katrina.

Earlier, Warrnambool trainer Aaron Purcell was celebrating the victory of Spirit Song in the $70,000 Greater Dandenong Weekly Handicap (1600m). Despite the best efforts of Craig Williams on board God Help Her, Spirit Song won the race by nearly four lengths.

Cranbourne trainer Nikki Burke took out the $70,000 City of Greater Dandenong Cup (1400m) with Adams Bell, defeating Valedictorian and Flash Kid.

Cranbourne's Mark Webb won the Swettenham Stud Summer Championships final (1600m) with Over Quota. It was the six year old's third consecutive victory after previously winning at Sandown and Flemington.
