Budding cricketers to get tips from Sri Lankan stars at clinic

20 Feb, 2012 12:00 AM
GREATER Dandenong schoolchildren have the opportunity to join in a special clinic with the Sri Lankan cricket team at Alex Nelson Reserve in Springvale on March 1.

The Sri Lankan squad, which is playing in the one-day triangular series against Australia and India, is offering 250 children aged 14 and under the opportunity to play alongside the players in mini games while also doing some cricket drills.

The clinic has been arranged via a partnership between Cricket Australia and the Young Cricketers Development International Experience Program and the Milo IN2CRICKET program.

Several Sri Lankan stars such as Kumar Sangakkara, Mahela Jayawardena and Angelo Mathews could attend the clinic.

Young Cricketers spokesman Vernon Tissera said the first 250 children to register would be able to attend.

To register, visit the IN2CRICKET.com.au website and type "Sri Lanka" into the "Sign Up Here" section and then register to attend. "We expect it will fill out quickly," he said.

The clinic is at Alex Nelson Reserve, Harold Road, Springvale, from 4.15pm on March 1.
