Get Active in March is part of a two-year federal government-funded program to reverse the municipality's poor health outcomes.
It starts with a 20-kilometre community bike ride and activities day at Greaves Reserve, Dandenong, on March 4.
Events include Movement to Music, a series of low-impact sessions for seniors, and netball, squash, volleyball and cycling days.
The council will appoint five health ambassadors and set up a healthy food kitchen to educate shoppers at Dandenong Market.
Greater Dandenong community services director Mark Doubleday said the program was designed to get adults active and eating healthily.
Council statistics show Greater Dandenong residents have mortality rates for diabetes 39 per cent above the metropolitan average.
