Mums and bubs evacuated from Dandenong Hospital

10 Feb, 2012 10:11 AM
SEVENTEEN babies were moved out of Dandenong Hospital’s special care nursery and a nearby corridor on Friday morning after staff noticed a chemical smell.

The hospital’s operations manager, Mark Kennedy, said the chemical had not yet been identified.

Southern Health’s media manager Suzana Talevski said police and the CFA were investigating.

She said all parents were notified immediately of the situation and all babies were safe and well.

CFA tests found no hazardous materials and the hospital would re-evaluate the situation on Saturday, she said.
