Dandenong police officers had early success during their first bicycle patrols in the city's central business district last week.
Senior Constable Paul Giampiccolo, one of the cycling officers, said he was targeting jaywalking, bicycle offences, and drunkenness in the city's parks, stations and licensed venues.
"The advantage is we're mobile and able to respond to a job more quickly."
